leader Comrade Somawansa Amarasinghe said that China has the
ability to act as a guard wall against the overwhelming influence
exerted by imperialists on small countries.
Comrade Somawansa Amarasinghe made these
remarks addressing the felicitation ceremony held on 27.09.2007
at the BMICH Colombo to mark the 50 year long friendship between
Sri Lanka and China and 58th
National Day of china.
This ceremony held under the patronage of
Chinese Ambassadors in Sri Lanka Mr. Ye Dabo was also attended by
Cuban and Malaysian Ambassadors in I Sri Lanka. Also present at this
ceremony were a large number of officials serving in foreign
embassies in Sri Lanka.
 Addressing
the ceremony Comrade Somawansa Amarasinghe said that Sri Lanka,
as in the past and the present will stand for a united china in
the future as well. JVP leader, who commended the Chinese
foreign policy of non interference in the sovereignty of other
countries, pointed out that the world at present needs such
exemplary foreign policy.
The President of the Sri Lanka-China
Friendship foundation, JVP Political Bureau Member Comrade Vijitha Herath presented the memorial bouquet to the ambassador.
Exchange of two children's story books
compiled in Sinhala and Chinese narrating folk tales of the two
countries between two children of the two countries was the
cynosure of everyone present.
 At
this colourful ceremony featured by cultural pageants, prizes
and certificates were awarded to the winners of the Arts
competition organized by the Sri Lanka-China Friendship
