Sri Lankans in Switzerland and several
other countries in Europe participating in a protest campaign
organized by the JVP branch in Geneva, Switzerland against
statements made by Louise Arbour, UN Commissioner for human
rights, state that Velupillai Prabakaran, who has continuously
carried out brutal murders, committed atrocities and engaged in
ethnic cleansing, should be declared a war criminal and no
mediation should be made to halt operations being carried out
against him and his terrorist organization.
The protest campaign was held opposite
Human Rights Head office of the UNO in Geneva on the 4th.
The protestors carried placards
condemning the attempt by Louise Arbour and others of her kind
trying to get foreign military intervention in Sri Lanka on the
pretext of safeguarding human rights. A spokesman for the
protestors said masses in Sri Lanka would never allow any
foreign military intervention in their Motherland. They said UNO
acted partially to the LTTE indicating that even when it has
been proved that tiger terrorists recruit children for military
activities no action has been taken against the LTTE.
A large number of Sri Lankans living
in Europe, especially in the UK, Germany, France and Italy
participated at the protest campaign.
