Jaffna University incident could provide stimulant to all sorts of communalists.

The Chief Whip of the opposition and JVP Leader Comrade Anura Dissanayaka questioned under standing order 23/2 in Parliament on the 21st regarding the student clash that had occurred in Jaffna University recently.
“He drew the attention of the House to the social risk of the relevant incident in which several students were injured due to the clash that occurred in the Science faculty of the Jaffna University on the 16th at a ceremony to welcome freshers to the university.
He said, “This is not a mere clash that occurred in a university. It should be considered as an incident that could surface a serious political and social risk and between two factions of students who represent two sections of the society. The maliciousness of communalism that should be abhorred as a society could be seen acting behind the incident.
The attack on Sinhalese students in Jaffna University by Tamil students of the same university is an extension of the communal sentiment that is surfacing in the North. This situation provides stimulant to all sorts of communalists. Any type of communalism mutually depends on other communalisms. A communalism indirectly helps its opposing communalism. Also, we know that communalism cannot be suppressed by another communalism.
Incidents in recent history show us that such trivial incidents develop into large scale wars. Hence, this incident should not be considered as a mere clash between students and one that could be terminated through legal action, disciplinary investigations or with time.
I expect the relevant minister to place before this House answers to the following questions:
1. What is the progress of the investigations into the incident?
2. Has an investigating committee been appointed to identify the reasons and the consequences of the incident?
3. If so what are its recommendations?
What is the programme of the government to avoid such incidents in the future?

Those who should be in hospitals invite us to topple governments

The leaders of Mahinda faction of the SLFP talk about toppling the government to develop the country but they are a sick lot that should be in hospitals instead of talking about developing the country says the General Secretary of the JVP Comrade Tilvin Silva.
Comrade Tilvin Silva made these remarks addressing a seminar held at Karandeniya by the JVP under the theme “Debt burden, Tax burden and the collapsing economy”. The JVP is holding a series of seminars under this theme throughout the island.
“As soon as Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son is remanded he gets down a special mattress claiming he has a back pain. He becomes aware that he has a back pain that prevents him from sleeping on the floor only when he is remanded. How could such sick people with back pains topple a government?
Next Mr. Basil Rajapaksa is remanded. Where does he go as soon as he goes to the remand prison? He gets a severe chest ailment. These are the people who call others to topple governments. They who should be in hospitals call us to topple governments and develop the country,” said the General Secretary of the JVP.

JVP condemns terrorist attack in Bangladesh & the US intervention in South China Sea

The JVP has issued a press release condemning the terrorist attack in Bangladesh and the interference in South China Sea by the USA.
The press release issued by the International Section of the JVP on 13.07.2016 states:
We, as the Political Bureau of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (People’s Liberation Front – JVP) vehemently condemn the terrorist attack carried out in Dhaka in Bangladesh. We are fully aware of the suffering and the pathetic situation the masses are confronted with at such a situation as we have experienced such sorrow and suffering of a thirty year war in our country. We also make this an opportunity to extend our condolences to the families of Bangladeshi citizens and foreign nationals who lost their lives in the cowardly attack. We wish speedy recovery for those who were injured in the attack.
Many countries in the world are destroyed and confronted with horrendous civil wars as a result of terrorist and communalist organizations created and nurtured by imperialist countries. It is no secret that specially, terrorist organizations such as ‘Mujahedeen’, ‘Al Kaida’, ‘ISIS’, founded by imperialists, depend on military and financial support of imperialists and countries that follow their political agendas.
Currently, Afghanistan and Pakistan completely and Bangladesh and India partially have become prey to attacks by extremist organizations. This indicates the attacks that began from the Middle East are spreading to Americas, Europe and South Asia. We believe, the people of Bangladesh, who have contributed to two victorious freedom struggles, would fearlessly confront these terrorist attacks and would be able to free their country from the terrorist menace.
The JVP also vehemently condemns the attempts of imperialists to make South Asia and Asian Region the next prey of their military and economic strategy.
The provocative acts carried out targeting China should be specially mentioned. We believe that the territorial disputes that have existed in the South China Sea, involving China and a number of its neighbouring countries for many years should be solved through discussion by countries that are involved in the dispute but we condemn the interference and provocations by the USA in the region using the dispute as an excuse.
Imperialism that inflames wars throughout the world for its own existence sending its senior officers to discuss terrorist acts and issues arising from such attacks which are the consequences of their own vicious agendas is nothing but a joke and we would like to mention here that the military and invasive role played by imperialist countries lead by the USA is loathed by people throughout the world.
We, invite downtrodden people of the world who are oppressed by terrorism, extremism and imperialist interventions to become the couplings of the chain that tie down imperialism.

No one can stop us – all fraudsters will be exposed

Many slanders have been created by unscrupulous elements stating that he has accepted millions to resign from the post of Chairman of the Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE), he took over the responsibility of that position not to give it up midway but to expose all the fraudsters said the Comrade Sunill Handunneththi who is also the Chairman of COPE. He asked those who create such slanders not to judge people of the JVP from their own low standards.

He said he would not be taken over with money and added if the Central Bank scam cannot be exposed and solved with the Auditor General’s report he would not hesitate to seek expert assistance to expose fraudsters and punish the culprits. All monies that have been stolen from the people would be taken back he said.
