The Commemoration of April Heroes’ that commemorates heroes of the JVP who laid down their lives for the betterment of the country at the ’71 struggle will be held for the 45th year tomorrow (5th April).
The three main ceremonies will be held at Panadura, Anuradhapura and Deniyaya while an ‘April Heroes Commemoration Week’ has been organized to be helod at electoral level throughout the island.
The commemoration at Panadura will be held chaired by the General Secretary of the JVP Comrade Tilvin Silva while the commemoration at Anuradhapura will be held chaired by the Member of the Political Bureau of the JVP Comrade Lal Kantha. The commemoration at Deniyaya in Matara District will be chaired by the Information Secretary of the JVP Comrade Vijitha Herath MP. All three commemorations will commence at 3.00 p.m. on the 5th.
Professionals including doctors and engineers held a protest against Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) to be signed with India and the JVP has organized a series of seminars to be held throughout the island to apprise the public regarding the harm to the country from the agreement. The first of this series of seminars held under the theme “Denounce ETCA that sacrifices our economy to India!” was held at Mahaweli Center yesterday (18th) chaired by the Leader of the JVP Comrade Anura Dissanayaka.
