USAID officials meet JVP Leader

Three officials from the USA Agency for International Development met the JVP Leader Comrade Somawansa Amarasinghe at the JVP head office at Pelawatta today (24th).
The officials mainly discussed the manner development aid given to Sri Lanka from 2014 could be used. Comrade Somawansa Amarasinghe emphasized that tanks and irrigation systems in the northern part of Sri Lanka should be restored to develop agriculture. He also pointed out that investment benefits should go to the people and there should be an essential condition to prevent waste, frauds and corruption carried out in such projects by politicians and middlemen.
Comrade Amarasinghe also said suitable houses should be constructed for the people in the area so that it would be a basic foundation for the development of their lives ensuring their democratic rights. The Leader of the JVP emphasized that the development plans that are to be implemented from 2014 should be directed towards fulfilling basic needs of the masses.
