A common agreement was reached today (11th) between the TNA and the JVP to identify sectors in which both parties in politics could ideologically agree says the Leader of the JVP Comrade Anura Dissanayaka.
The JVP Leader revealed this to the media speaking after the discussion the JVP had with the TNA at the JVP head office at Pelawatta today in connection with the draft of the 20th amendment to the Constitution the JVP presented in parliament.
Comrade Anura Dissanayaka said that abolishing the executive presidency and getting all to contribute in power-sharing was discussed and the leaders of both parties paid attention to the need for a new political direction in an environment where the so-called main political parties have degenerated.
He said despite there are differences as political parties, there were many areas the JVP and the TNA could ideologically agree and the TNA’s support ideologically to abolish executive presidency is a healthy sign he pointed out.
Comrade Anura Dissanayaka said accordingly, both parties were able to hold an important discussion that would lead the politics in the country towards a new horizon.

He also pointed out that the JVP was informed about the discussions the TNA had with the President and the Prime Minister in connection with the devolution of power.
Mr Sampanthan said the JVP and the TNA should work together to get the politics in the country along a correct path and emphasized that it would definitely occur in the future.
