Amaradewa.

\nLet\u2019s pay tribute to veteran musician Amaradewa!
\nW.D. Amaradewa, the great musician of our land, has completed his contribution in music to the land and has left us. We take this opportunity to pay tribute to the great musician W.D. Amaradewa, who bid adieu today (3rd) marking the departure of a representation of a Sri Lanka\u2019s music era.
\nThe proficiency of Amaradewa, a pioneer in creating a new Sri Lankan musical tradition by incorporating Sinhala folk music with Indian ragas, in bringing Sri Lankan music close to the hearts of the masses was phenomenal. Amaradewa, the singer, musician, composer and who displayed his skills in film music direction is established in the hearts of masses as a creator of the Sri Lankan \u2018sarala gee\u2019 genre. He becomes the maestro of music in our land incorporating all these. He entered musical field as a violinist, became a great maestro and endowed the musical sector with the harmony of Mahagama Sekara a number of precious creations that could be enjoyed by generations to come.
\nMaestro Amaradewa won numerous awards locally and internationally and more than that the hearts of the people he won were numerous. There is no doubt that the vacuum created by his demise would not be able to be filled for a long time.
\nWe would like to share the grief of his death with members of his family and the people of Sri Lanka. Lastly, let us pay tribute to veteran musician Amaradewa who departed from us today!
