“Let us make the New Year an omen of a transition to a new political culture!”<\/p>\n
No one can dispute that the New Year, the cultural festival traditionally celebrated by the Sinhala and Tamil people, is approaching this year 2022, not in a socio-economic and political environment that can be celebrated in such a festive manner. Mere wishes for the coming New Year will not be enough as the whole society is in dire straits, and the vast majority of the people are camping out to oust the country’s rulers.
\nIn order to make the New Year auspicious, we as citizens must actively intervene to drive out these idiotic rulers and the destructive socio-economic system they are pursuing.
\nThe reckless, immature and foolish decisions of the President and his government and the corrupt, predatory and wasteful regime have plunged Sri Lanka into the most profound crisis in its history. While building a country without ousting these rulers is unthinkable, building a people’s government through broad socio-economic and political change is no longer a task that can be delayed.
\nWe call on the people to make the New Year the culmination of their determination to act immediately and move towards a new political culture that surfaces with the ongoing people’s struggle. Let us embrace the brotherhood of the people from the bottom of our hearts as we build into one Sri Lankan nation.
