The JVP held a massive May Day rally yesterday (1st) at the Uyanwatta Stadium in Matara with the participation of a large number of people.
\nThe rally held under the theme, \u201cLet’s chase away the oppressive government! Let’s build a people’s government! \u201d was addressed by the Information Secretary Comrade Vijith Herath, Politburo member Comrade Sunil Handunnetti, convener of the All Ceylon Fisheries Federation Comrade Ratna Gamage and Comrade Saroja Paullraj, co-chair of the Women’s Rights Organization.
\nA May Day parade was also held, which was attended by a large number of professionals including artists, lawyers, doctors, engineers and professors.<\/p>\n
