The budget presented by Ranil Wickramasinghe as Finance Minister is a UNP budget that fulfils all but one of the conditions contained in the Article 04 letter given by the International Monetary Fund on March 2nd, and the members of Sri Lanka Podujana Peremuna agree to it says Member of Parliament for National People\u2019s Power Vijitha Herath.
\nHe said this while participating in the debate on the budget presented for the year 2023.
\nHe also pointed out that the UNP\u2019s economic policies of imposing tax burdens on the people, debt burdens and selling government institutions are at the core of this budget document. It was pointed out that this budget document has been submitted to fulfil all the remaining conditions except the existing condition to reduce fraud, corruption and waste in Article 04 of the 05 conditions presented by the International Monetary Fund.
\nThe other IMF conditions revealed by Comrade Vijitha Herath are the condition that income tax and VAT should be increased, the tax concessions given so far be abolished, government institutions restructured, energy prices should be determined to cover the costs, and the rupee should be devalued. It was emphasized that due to the wrong political culture followed by our country for a long time, fraud and corruption had been committed in this country in the same way that pushed African countries into a similar precipice.

Stating that Ranil\u2019s UNP policy was wrong, Podujana Peramuna formed a government against the UNP, saying that it would take over the things that the UNP government sold. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said at Viharamahadevi Park not to buy what is sold by the UNP government, adding that they would take back what was sold when they returned to power.
