A group of Buddhist priests led by Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera called on the leaders of the JVP at the JVP Head Office today (12th) to discuss the current political crisis in the country.
Eleven Buddhist Priests including Ven. Dr Omalpe Sobhitha Thero, Ven. Prof. Holaganwatte Chandrasiri Thero, Ven. Hadigalle Wimalasara Thero, Ven. Rajawatte Wappa Thero and Ven. Pahiyangala Ananda Sagara Thero were present.
Leader of the JVP Comrade Anura Dissanayake, Information Secretary Comrade Vijitha Herath and Central Committee Member Comrade Dr Nalinda Jayatissa participated in the discussion on behalf of the JVP.
During the discussion, both sides agreed that the new government to be formed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was unacceptable and should be defeated in the interest of the people. The JVP pointed out that an opportunity should be given to a new mandate within a short period of time to end the instability in the country and it was discussed
