The Commemoration of April Heroes’ that commemorates heroes of the JVP who laid down their lives for the betterment of the country at the ’71 struggle was celebrated for the 45th year today (5th April).
The three main ceremonies were held at Panadura, Anuradhapura and Deniyaya while an ‘April Heroes Commemoration Week’ has been held at electoral level throughout the island.
The commemoration at Panadura was chaired by the General Secretary of the JVP Comrade Tilvin Silva while the commemoration at Anuradhapura was chaired by the Member of the Political Bureau of the JVP Comrade Lal Kantha. The commemoration at Deniyaya in Matara District was chaired by the Information Secretary of the JVP Comrade Vijitha Herath MP.
