A delegation of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), led by General Secretary Comrade Tilvin Silva currently on an official visit to India, met with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar this afternoon (01) for a constructive discussion.
Recalling their previous meeting in February this year, the delegates engaged in an extensive discussion on the steady and positive progress of bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and India. The dialogue highlighted the critical role played by technological advancement in national development, as well as the necessity for political movements to maintain close engagement with the working class and youth — ensuring swift solutions to public grievances through continuous communication.
Emphasizing proletarian solidarity and political exchange, both parties underscored the value of sharing expertise and technical knowledge between the two nations and their political organizations. Special attention was drawn to the people-centric approaches of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake when addressing concerns of the masses.
The meeting also addressed key regional and global challenges stemming from international political-economic crises, while outlining joint efforts to mitigate these impacts. Furthermore, discussions also focused on prospective Indian investments to bolster Sri Lanka’s domestic economy as well as measures to enhance cultural ties between the peoples of both nations.
