Condemn the imposition of repressive laws to suppress people’s struggles! – JVP

April 3, 2022 Nihal Weerasuriya

The Rajapaksa regime, which has oppressed the people by failing to provide for their basic needs of the people, has begun to impose repressive laws to suppress the growing widespread opposition to its rule. The government, which imposed the state of emergency on the first night has now imposed the curfew as well. It is to prevent mass protests.
We strongly condemn this cowardly and anti-people, repressive policy of the government and demand the immediate withdrawal of all repressive laws, including the state of emergency.
Experience around the world has shown that anti-combat laws cannot suppress the just protests of the people.
We stand for the people’s right to protest and fight for their just rights and emphasize that the struggle to overthrow this vicious regime will not stop under any circumstances.
