May 25, 2023 Nihal Weerasuriya

In the parliamentary elections held in Greece on Sunday, 21/5, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) achieved a 2% increase, receiving 7.23%, i.e. more than 425,000 votes (125,000 more votes in comparison with the previous elections) and electing 26 MPs (11 more MPs in comparison with the previous elections).
Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), said after the election, “The KKE will be the only hopeful opposition for our people both in and out of parliament, on the side of the class people’s struggles for the protection of the life, income and all the rights of the people and the youth.”
JVP Sri Lanka congratulates the Communist Party of Greece on its electoral success.
The message states:
Dear Comrades,
We extend our most enthusiastic congratulations to the Communist Party of Greece on its increased electoral support and the number of MP’s elected in the recent general election.
The increased electoral support reflects the people’s confidence in KKE ,which has been bravely and firmly proposing the Socialist Alternative as the only solution for the present crisis. We are definite that the Communist Party of Greece will continue gaining many outstanding achievements and rapidly develop in all fields.
We also believe that your success would consolidate the relationship between our two Parties, based on mutual political trust, while regularly exchanging each other’s experiences in our endeavour to build amicable societies for our peoples.
Long live Proletarian Internationalism!
Long live friendship between KKE and JVP Sri Lanka!
Fraternally,
On behalf of the Central Committee,
Tilvin Silva ,
General Secretary,
People’s Liberation Front –JVP Srilanka.
