The attack on disabled soldiers who held a peaceful agitation to raise awareness for their just demands should be abhorred by the civilized world states a press release issued by the Political Bureau of the JVP.
The press release further states, “Receiving with tear gas and the water cannon, instead of solutions, when they came to the premises is indeed very regrettable. Even when it is difficult for a normal person to face such a police attack, subjecting those who have lost their hands, legs and vision to such a detestable attack should be abhorred by the civilized world.”
The press release:
Condemn the attack on disabled soldiers
We vehemently condemn the government’s action of getting police to attack, with tear gas and water cannon, the disabled soldiers who entered the Presidential Secretariat premises today (7th) to present their just demands.
The disabled soldiers had to come to the Presidential Secretariat as the government failed to give a permanent solution for their agitation that was carried out for several days agitating for several demands including their pension. Receiving with tear gas and the water cannon, instead of solutions, when they came to the premises is indeed very regrettable. Even when it is difficult for a normal person to face such a police attack, subjecting those who have lost their hands, legs and vision to such a detestable attack should be abhorred by the civilized world.
We, while emphasizing that the government should take the responsibility of this detestable attack, condemn government’s policy of attacking peaceful demonstrations.
