Comrade Tilvin Silva, the General Secretary of the JVP, has participated in the session of the municipal council of Örebro, one of Sweden’s major cities, on a special invitation.
The JVP General Secretary has been warmly welcomed by Jan Zetterviqst, the Speaker of the Municipal Council and introduced to the assembly.
Sunil Jayasuriya, the member of the municipal council of the Swedish Left Party, who was elected to the municipal council in the public vote held in September, and the group of Members of that party also warmly welcomed Comrade Tilvin Silva and his party members.
Also, Jessica Calqvist, the provincial council member and the group leader of the Left Party and the member of the international wing of the Left Party, welcomed Comrade Tilvin Silva. They discussed the economic and social issues of Sri Lanka. She also mentioned that she could present views on the situation in Sri Lanka in the Swedish Parliament. She also mentioned that the Swedish Left Party is interested in sending an election observation team if Sri Lanka accepts the request.
Members of other parties representing the Municipal Council have also highly appreciated the presence of General Secretary Comrade Tilvin Silva.
