Two delegates representing the JVP have joined the 16th Congress of the Communist Party of Venezuela and the International Working People’s Socialist Party Delegates’ Conference, which will begin today (1st) in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.
Comrade Darshana Hettiarachchi, the Secretary of the JVP Committee in the UK and its committee member Comrade Dr Janitha Gamanayake represent the JVP at the conference, which will be held until the 6th. The two JVP representatives visited the head office of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) and met the representatives of its Political Bureau.
A discussion was held on the political and economic situation in both countries. Communist Party President Comrade Perfocto Absev and General Secretary – Comrade Oscar Figueroa as well as the President of Clara Zetkin Women Movement, Comrade Elena Linares and other committee members joined the discussion. Comrade Dr Janita Gamanayake, representing the JVP at the conference, is the daughter of Comrade Upatissa Gamanayake, the former Secretary of the party.
