The time has come to carry out class politics instead of doing party politics says the General Secretary of the JVP Comrade Tilvin Silva. He said this at a meeting held at Akuressa concurrent with Matara District coordinating week being held from the 16th to the 19th of this month.
He said, “The tea leaves pluckers, rubber tappers, farmers, government employees sweat to develop the economy. When the farmer toils to produce paddy, a few mill owners get rich. A society where the gains of the people are distributed fairly should be created. It is not necessary to give the contract of exploiting people to various groups every five or six years.
We are divided and fight among ourselves. However, the rulers do not take divisions seriously. They unite to exploit masses. Can we find out which party they belong to? Can we say what Mr. S.B. Dissanayaka’s party is? This week he is in one party and next week he will be in another. As a result he comfortably placed.
Now look at this government’s cabinet of ministers. Those who were in Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s cabinet are in this cabinet as well. They have not been defeated. Who has been defeated then?
Now, we have to select our politics not as political parties but as classes. All downtrodden people should come together,” said the General Secretary of the JVP.
ComradeTilvin Silva took part in several meetings, gatherings and discussions with intellectuals and professionals at Akuressa and Deniyaya areas yesterday (17th).
