National People’s Power is open to everyone who sincerely desires to change the country, says Comrade KD Lalkantha, the Member of the Political Bureau of the JVP and National Executive Member of the National People’s Power.
He emphasized this while addressing the Kandy district rally of the series of rallies held by the NPP under the theme “The whole country together for a New Rennaisance” held in Kandy.
Speaking further, Comrade Lalkantha said, “We worked with a goal of contacting at least a few people from each Grama Seva division in the Kandy District. Seeing this huge crowd, it is clear that the goal has been achieved. National People’s Power is not just a political party; It is a national movement built to change our country in the right way. A national movement is formed by joining all the progressive and oppressed people who aspire to change this country. Those of you who participated in this rally, think about what political opinion you had before this, whether you thought about politics correctly or not, etc. You must have worked with various political parties. There may also be people here who did not favour any political party. We all choose a political party to change this country in the right way. But since that objective was not fulfilled, you were looking for a national movement that could change the country correctly. We all have now met here with the national movement of the NPP. Now, if you look at the others around you, they also worked for different political parties and voted for them, thinking they would do good for the country. Even at this stage, diversity becomes clear. By coming together to build this country in the right way, you have in front of you a beautiful and strong platform that embodies the meaning of the colourful NPP of the Kandy District. The same is true of you in front of us. Everyone has the awakening that we all have come to the right place to develop this country.
Unlike on other occasions, I have brought a piece of paper to today’s talk. It is not good if the names are mispronounced, so some names were written on that paper. A former state minister of Kandy District is on this stage. I asked many people about him. They all said he was a good gentleman. Harendra Dunuwila, a senior lawyer and former municipality mayor, has joined this stage. Everyone said he was a good gentleman who had been a member of the UNP. The National People’s Power stage has been opened to all such good people. Let’s all come together and take this country on the correct path. I mentioned him as an example for many who have joined us. Also, former Secretary of the Ministry of Education Palitha Alkaduwa, former Executive Director and Secretary of Road Development Authority Shanta Samarasinghe, Rear Admiral Sarath Dissanayake, Champa Fernando of Peradeniya University’s Movement to End Animal Cruelty, Gamini Jayaweera of the March 12 Organization, Kandy Citizens’ Coalition, member of the Inter-Religious Cooperation Movement Secretary, Senior Commissioner of Income Tax Jayatissa Ratnayake, who is also the former health minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s media secretary and the former organizer of the United National Party’s Ududumbara constituency. I mentioned only a few people who joined the National Movement. I mentioned these few names to confirm that the National People’s Power is open to everyone who sincerely desires to change this country.
Some people are against this party. While organizing this meeting, the only obstacle was Vaski Vardhanage. He heads the Municipal Council’s raids department in Kandy Municipality. In the future, we will reveal the names of all those abusing their positions as public servants. A large propaganda cutout was installed for our campaign. Comrade Lal Wijenayake had received a phone call that some group wanted to remove this cutout. The officer named Vaski Vardhanage had taken action to remove the cutout by employing municipal employees. Neither the municipal commissioner nor the OIC police had instructed to remove the cutout. This type of work has been done by employing municipal council employees, according to Vaski Vardhana’s request. When we work for the movement to bring in a new renaissance, we must remember that people like this are still trying to maintain the rotten society.
We have something to say to people like Keheliya Rambukwella, Lakshman Kiriella and Lohan Ratwatte. Please take the medicine on time. You should be there to see how this country is developed under the rule of the NPP. Like Lohan Ratwatte, don’t get ready to die when Comrade Anura comes to power. You should live to see how the people come together to build the country destroyed by those who have been in power until now. Long live the NPP!”
