The leader of the NPP and JVP Comrade Anura Dissanayake said today (27th) that the local government elections scheduled to be held on March 09 has been postponed and on June 9th it will be three months it has been postponed. He said the NPP will re-launch the battle on June 08 and finally would encircle Colombo in order to win the election.
He said that the candidates competing in the local government elections will go before the Election Commission on June 8.
“The vote was announced on January 5. On February 21 Nominations were accepted and completed. Elections should have been held on March 09. It will be three months without the election on June 09. Voting is the democratic right of the people of this country. We have prepared our moves to get that election.

We will have a big protest campaign in Hambantota. Then there will be more such protests in Anuradhapura and Gampaha. After that, we will beready for a mass campaign that will surround Colombo.” He emphasized.
