The National People’s Power (NPP), together with the JVP and other organizations affiliated to it, contesting from ‘Compass’, commenced agitations throughout the country on the18th, demanding that the local government elections that have been called be held as scheduled.
Placards with slogans against the actions taken by Ranil Rajapaksa and the current government to disrupt the called local government elections were displayed, and the leaders of the NPP addressed the gatherings.
The agitations participated by large crowds were held in Gampaha, Maharagama, Tangalle and Kalutara.
