The wicked regime of a few elite families that joined together to keep the entire wealth and power of the country by dividing the masses will end, and a people’s government will be established soon, emphasized the JVP.
This was stated by the JVP general secretary ComradeTilvin Silva, while delivering the keynote address of the 52nd April Heroes Celebration held at Kalutara yesterday (5th).
Comrade General Secretary said that even though the elections were held earlier knowing that then governments would lose, but the administration would go to their own class, the local government elections have been postponed this time despite the court orders because, for the first time in history, the power of governance is being transferred to the ordinary people.
He emphasized that all those who gave their lives in the struggle of 1971 and suffered many hardships came forward with the determination to change this cynical regime, and the 52nd anniversary of their celebration is at a time when the people are rallying for the victory.
Other major April celebrations were held in Matala under the leadership of the JVP leader Comrade Anura Disanayaka and in Wellawa under the leadership of Information Secretary Comrade Vijitha Herath.
