Prohibition order against Comrade Anura Dissanayake & 25 others

Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has issued an order preventing 26 politicians and trade union leaders including Comrades Anura Dissanayake, Tilvin Silva, Vijitha Herath, Sunil Handunnetti and KD Lal Kantha from engaging in protest or demonstration in several areas in the Colombo Fort.
The National People’s Power (NPP) organized a protest today (26th) afternoon near the
Vihara Mahadevi Park in protest against the increase in electricity bills, the increase in taxes, the non-holding of the elections, etc. The order has been issued preventing entry to many areas of Colombo including the Presidential Palace, the Presidential Secretariat, and Galle face until 8.00 p.m. today.
Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Nihal Talduwa states that according to the order, entry into the relevant roads is prohibited, and property damage as well as violent incidents that provoke people should not be done.
According to Police Media Spokesman the order has been given on a request made by OICs of Fort, Slave Island and Kollupitiya Police Stations.
