‘Red Star’ shines for the affected…

The ‘Red Star’ ‘Relief Services Brigade’ of the JVP continued its relief work among people who have been affected due to floods and inclement weather.
The General Secretary of the JVP Comrade Tilvin Silva, the Member of the Central Committee Wasantha Samarasinghe and the National Organizer of Socialist Youth Union Comrade Eranga Gunasekera together with comrades of ‘Red Star’ distributed dry rations in Kaduwela area. A large number of people handed over goods to be distributed to flood victims at the ‘Red Star’ temporary collection center at Kaduwela Junction.
Meanwhile, JVP Parliamentarian Comrade Sunil Handunneththi and former Parliamentarian and Central Committee Member Comrade Gamini Rathnayaka visited the camps where people who have been affected due to the landslide that occurred in Aranayaka area are temporarily settled to find out their needs and support them.
They visited and handed over aid to camps at Dikpitiya Rajagiriya MV, Rajagiriya Purana Viharaya, Rajagiriya Junior School, Welimanna Temple, Welimanna Pre-School, Hathgampola Temple and Hathgampola MV.
They also visited Ella MV, Pannala MV, Kalampitiya Bedugala Vidydalaya, Kanangamuwa Vidyalaya, Yatiyanthota camp where people affected by the landslide at Kalupahana Estate at Bulathkohupitiya are temporarily settled.
Comrade Sunil Handunneththi gave an assurance to the affected people that the JVP would mediate, appear for them and do what ever necessary for them even after the inclement weather situation eases.
Meanwhile, a mobile health clinic was held for the benefit of the affected people in Kolonnawa area with the participation of JVP Central Committee Member Comrade Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa with the voluntary support of Dr. Upeksha.
‘Red Star’ Relief Services Brigade had also organized two health clinics at Artigala Temple and Homagama area with the participation of a group of doctors including Dr. Asanga Wickremesinghe and Dr. Lasantha Abeyawarna.
Popular singer T.M. Jayaratna too contributed to the ‘Red Star’ Relief Services Brigade in kind.
